Hiya Folks & Another Recycling Idea for Gardeners...

Hiya everyone, brilliant idea this forum, well done, pat on the back. Freecycle is good already but this will make it even better!
I saw Linz idea with the plant pots & thought of another wee tip for folks, old glass jars, like big coffee jars etc, can be washed & used as small propagators for small amounts of seeds. Just wash them out, remove the packing from the lid & replace with a few pieces of kitchen roll, water it well, then sit your seeds on it, put the glass bit back on the lid & stand in a light place but not direct sunlight!, open every day for a wee while to let them breathe & in no time your seeds will have germinated & will be ready for pricking out & potting on. (The lid becomes the base where you put the seeds when you turn the jars upside down). They are easy to obtain, saves them having to be binned & are perfect for the job.

I would like a strimmer or at least a borrow of one. Ours has broken and now the rain has stopped for the time being, I really need to sort out the garden.

Thanks

Plastic bottle uses

Empty plastic bottles are good for this also you cut of the top and bottom use the bottom to plant the seeds use the top to cover them or as propogators for small plant pots the tops can also be used for youg seedlings in the garden to protect them till they get a foot hold in the soil, thisalso stops them from being eaten by slugs etc, The middle section can be used in seed trays if you cut it length ways a mini greenhouse for your seedlings also they can be used to clear work space if you tie a bit string around the neck then cut of a space big enough to get your hand in to plant (great for young geraniums etc ) tie to an old brush handle and hang up in the shed etc
