Fife Freecycle Cafe

When wanted, received, taken and offered just aren't enough!!

i think this has been discussed before, but could the moderators think about it. i am really good at replying to emails and if i am collecting anything i do so promptly. after all people are getting shot of the stuff to make room so its only fair to be quick in picking it up. having a feedback rating would ensure that car booters, sellers, dealers etc couldnt get stuff or at least you would know where it was going. no shows would become a thing of the past as people wouldnt offer it to them. i have offered several things with mostly no problems, but there are the ones that havent showed up and if they asked for anything again i wouldnt give them it, also when i say i want it out i do mean it, i dont want to be sitting with it for 3 weeks. i think feedback would be a good idea, i think others may agree. or am i not doing things in the freecycle spirit??? am sure people will put me right if i am wrong. my attitude to freecycle is like offering stuff to your friends but these are strangers, so all the more reason for feedback. thanks for reading and hopefully we can all have a rant or even answers as to why we shouldnt have feedback.

what you can do is name and shame them ?

i dont think naming and shaming is a good idea, as they may have a genuine reason for not showing up. i know one of the girls that really mucked me about with my table and chairs and then had the audacity to be cheeky about it, she will never get anything off of me ever. but what if she changes her name, screen name i mean, how would i know, ive never met her or spoke to her. but i see she has given stuff away with no problems so it must just be the collection side she has a problem with. but her loss was someone elses gain but then if i had been really disgusted i would have just taking it to the tip but that defeats the purpose of freecycle. at one point i had 2 tables and 18 chairs in my house cos no one could pick them up. these are the joys of giving.i guess

you could also operate a 3 strick policy along with the name and shame eg this person has done it 3 times

i think a 3 strike policy could be the way to go. only if they had a genuine excuse could you let them off. naming ans shaming i think is a "breach of someones human rights"..!!!!
