Fife Freecycle Cafe

When wanted, received, taken and offered just aren't enough!!

why do people answer ads for offers with " ill take it" or "I'll have it". i prefer to give my stuff to people who give a brief explanation of why they want it or need it. am i just being picky or is this someone elses bug bear too.

i havent replied to much, but when i do i always give an explanation of why i want it so they have a rough idea of where its going. people maybe giving their stuff away for free, and for some it saves a trip to the tip. but i just want rid of mine to create more room. if i had the room i wouldnt be giving it away. so i just ask that people give a brief explanation of where its going? after all they are getting it for nothing so it doesnt do any harm to be nice about it.

Remember its your stuff to give to who you want to so you are quite entitled to choose someone who displays more manners. I also think the 'I'll have its' tend to be the ones who have just jumped in there without really thinking about it and are more likely to not show up to collect.

i know what you mean, i think some of them dont really think about it till you put a bit of pressure on for them to pick it up. ive started saying all ill have its will be deleted without reply. seen a few people doing that. and it does work. why, i dont know. maybe they have to think about the wording and its just too much effort so it does whittle down the genuine ones.

I like to see a short explanation and for my sins I tend to ignore the 'I'll have it' brigade. I then allocate a number to the requests that I like and draw lots for the recipient.

I always delete these first why should they be made an offer of they cannot be even bothered to type a few lines or to ask nicely, manners cost nothing and after all the item is being gifted to them. Its not too much to ask is it ?
